New Fleet Platform Introduces Crash Detection Alerts
Aug. 17, 2017—Fleet Complete launched a new platform that has a feature called "Crash Detection."
Crash Detection is particularly decisive in the event of a collision as it immediately notifies and provides all of the vital information that aids in accident reconstruction and making insurance claims of this nature. The next-gen web platform converges all of the vehicle tracking, driver performance, big data analytics and vital features, like Crash Detection, into a single cloud system, easily accessible anywhere.
As Susan Beardslee recently pointed out to Fixed Ops Business, the use of telematics will allow collision repair shops, insurance companies and OEMs to know exactly when a vehicle crashes and what has been damaged. And the technology is catching on quickly, as the number of subscribers to OnBoard Diagnostics aftermarket telematics solutions is expected to reach 117.8 million in 2019, according to an ABI Research report. The technology has the potential to completely reshape the industry, and OEMs are investing heavily.
“If you, as a consumer or a small fleet owner, know ahead of time that a battery or pump is going to fail, you can bring it in to be repaired,” said Beardslee, senior analyst for technology market intelligence firm ABI Research.
Soon, the implementation of telematics technology will become commonplace, and the utilization of it could aid in obtaining fleet accounts. In fact, Frank Petrane, who was hired as senior vice president of the Driven Brand's (which owns Maaco and CARSTAR) fleet division, Driven Fleet, said a huge part of obtaining fleet work will be through establishing a telematics system.
“We are currently partnering with a third-party vendor that is private labeling a fleet dashboard for us,” he says. “It is fully integrated into the Meineke point-of-sale system and we can sell it as a an ancillary benefit when working with current and new customers.”
