Although Jans says the department frequently uses knowledge from the past to guide its day-to-day processes, it also looks at ways to improve and does so by looking at technology that can help increase efficiencies.
“Before, we used to have to do paper inventory logs; now, everything we do is on the computer,” Jans says.
Utilizing OEConnection has helped mainstream everything the department does and helps it track downs parts quicker.
“We like to think that we’re pretty tech savvy when it comes to availability and figuring out a solution when we don’t have the resources to make it available,” Jans says.
The department’s use of Xtime has also helped streamline communication between staff and customers.
“It gives customers a better outlook of what they actually need,” Jans says. “They can accept or decline work right from their smartphone.”
