Ford Pickups Being Targeted by Thieves in South Texas

Jan. 3, 2018—South Texas is in the midst of a rash of thefts centered around Ford pickups, as reported by news4sanantonio.com.

On average, three vehicles per day disappear in San Antonio, and local police have noted that Ford pickups like the F-350 have especially been targeted of late.

Officers said that Ford pickups are valued by smugglers along the Mexican border, and their interchangeable parts make them a favorite in chop shops, where parts can be viewed as more valuable than the truck itself.

Thieves are even stealing newer models, as well, despite smart key technology, according to the report.
