Dec. 6, 2018—RJ Scaringe, CEO of Rivian, electric-car startup company, still sees a future for dealerships but a modified one, reported The Car Connection.

According to the report, Scaringe said he plans to incorporate a dealer network and partners, though customers will buy and lease the electric pickup and SUV directly from the company.

Rivian hopes to launch its first vehicle, the R1T pickup in late 2020 before production of the R1S starts a year later. Scaringe said there is already interest from dealer groups to provide service and support for electric utility vehicles.
