Cox Automotive Names Fla. Manager Leader of Year
June 27, 2018—Cox Automotive recently honored Nicole Cockroft, a service and parts manager from Clermont, Fla., with its Breakthrough Leader of the Year Award. Cockroft helps lead fixed operations at Headquarter Mazda. The annual honor recognizes female leaders who were inspired to transition to the auto industry from another industry and made an immediate impact.
Cockroft accepted the award recently at a ceremony during the Women in Automotive Conference in Orlando. Nichole Ashe, an executive with Cox Automotive, said Cockroft earned the honor because she’s “a premiere example of how a customer-centric background and can-do attitude can generate change not only for a dealership and that local community, but the entire automotive industry.”
Prior to joining the Headquarter Automotive group in 2014, Cockroft worked as an administrative assistant, a business owner, a medical transcriptionist, and a server/bartender. At Headquarter Honda, she found a professional home, and her customer service skills helped her climb the ladder. Before long, Cockroft became the parts and service manager for Headquarter Mazda.
“It was Nicole’s resilience that really set her up to succeed,” said Michael Gippert, the fixed operations director for Headquarter Automotive, in a press release.
Cockroft’s business sense has greatly aided her dealership, too; Headquarter Automotive officials say the Mazda dealership in Clermont is in the top 10 percent for CSI in the region, and boasts retention that’s “extremely high for a brand-new dealership.”
