Android Auto Rolls Out Swipe-to-Unlock Feature

March 19, 2018—Google’s Android Auto recently unveiled a new feature that allows users to interact with their phone while in their car more safely: a swipe-to-unlock option.

According to a report by slashgear.com, when enabled, the product tweak displays instructions to “swipe up to unlock.” After swiping up, users will have access to the device’s standard home screen and apps. The additional upward swipe will be required for each unlock, as long as the phone is connected to the car.

The new feature should be welcomed by Android users, particularly those that use a wireless connection to power their car’s in-dash display. The new component should make it much easier for passengers to use a device in place of the driver, too.

Slashgear.com reports that Google has gradually been rolling the new feature out to users over the last few weeks.
